Car
If starting from Bangkok, take Highway 4 and continue past Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon. Switch to Highway 41, past Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung. Continue on Highway 4 from Phatthalung to Songkhla’s Rattaphum district before you turn right to follow Highway 406 toward Satun. The total distance is 980 km. Expect the trip to take almost 15 hours.

Train
From the main train station (Hua Lamphong Railway Station) in Bangkok, take the Bangkok – Yala, Bangkok – Hat Yai or Bangkok – Su-ngai Kolok train to the Hat Yai Railway Station.
Take a passenger van, taxi or a bus toward Satun for a distance of 100 km.

Plane
Take the Bangkok – Hat Yai flight. From Hat Yai, take a taxi or a bus to Satun for another 100 km.

Bus
Bangkok
There are daily air-conditioned bus service from Bangkok to Satun. The buses leave the New Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Taling Chan - Phutthamonthon Soi 1 ) in the early morning and afternoon. Advance bookings are available from the terminal and from tour companies in Bangkok
Phuket
Phuket is a 7-8 hour trip away from Satun. If you arrive at the port, take a taxi to the bus terminal and book a ticket. Avoid the offers of private mini buses; they are often dangerous and overpriced. The fares are 275 baht (as of March 2009).
Taxi
Old Mercedes taxis leave for Satun regularly from Hat Yai (Thanon Rattakarn, opposite the Post Office).
It is a five minute walk from Hat Yai train station along Thamanonvithee Road for 100 meters, then turn left into Thanon Rattakarn. Walk almost to the end of the road where the Post Office is on the right and the taxis on the left.
The fare is between 300 and 500 Baht.
Ferry
Langkawi - Satun
Four trips daily between Satun (Tamalang Pier, 10 km south og Satun Town) and Langkawi, Malaysia.
First trip at 9:45 am and last at 5:00 pm. The journey takes approximately one hour an 15 minutes. The ferries are equipped with air condition, reclining seats, video entertainment, full view of ferry and a mini canteen with snacks and soft drinks. Capacity 110 passengers
