Khao Rang - Phuket City

If in Phuket City in the late afternoon, join locals and visitors for a peaceful visit at Khao Rang - overlooking the city and some of the islands to the south.

A great escape

Khao Rang offers a great view of Phuket Town, the southern part of the island, and some of the offshore islands. It is a nice walk from the centre of Phuket Town and takes around 25-30 minutes.

The two restaurants features spectacular views of the city, but there is also a health park for exercise enthusiasts, and a comfortable, expanse of grass for picnickers at the top.

A cold ice coffee, an ever colder beer or a nice dinner awaits you at Tunk Ka Cafe - offering local Thai cuisine at very affordable prices.

The view at night is amazing and is favorite among locals living in Phuket City - not the mention young people looking for a secluded spot for some romance in the evening.

Beware of the monkeys! There are wild monkeys around the picnic area and for some reason they seem to be more annoyed by tourists than locals.

There is also a bronze statue of Phraya Ratsada Korsimbi Na Ranong - a Sino-Thai businessman who was appointed Governor of Phuket in 1902. He has been credited for introducing rubber trees to Phuket and connecting Phuket with traders in Malaysia and Singapore. He helped turn Phuket into a modern trading port.
