Patong Beach

Originally a fishing village, currently Patong is Phuket's most developed beach offering virtually every kind of entertainment imaginable. Exuberant nightlife and numerous leisure, sporting, shopping, and recreational options flourish along its three kms of beach.

Karon Beach

Karon Beach is the second largest of Phuket's principal tourist beaches. The slightly curving beach is long, broad, and not very shady.

The southern end has a fine coral reef stretching around the small headland into Kata Yai and Pu Island.

Kata Beach
Located on the southwest part of the island, Kata Yai and Kata Noi are located south of Karon Beach. Easy to get to, only 7 kms west of Chalong Circle, the area was once popular with hippies and low budget backpackers. Now significantly more upscale, with upwards of 30 hotels and bungalow complexes, it has less rural flavor, but is less crowded and hectic than Patong.

Chalong, Rawai and Nai Harn

Ao Chalong has a long flat, shallow, muddy bottom; at ebbtide, waters recede as much as one kilometer. Nai Harn is not Phuket's longest beach, but it borders the most gorgeous lagoon on the island.

Kamala and Surin Beaches

Tourist development on Kamala Beach is unobtrusive and the village is still dominated by a Muslim graveyard, a police outpost and a few restaurants and hotels.

Surin Beach is a not-to-be-missed spot for witnessing the brilliant sunsets of Phuket.

After a short walk down a narrow footpath between Kamala and Surin you arrive at Laem Sing Bay, winged by round-shaped granite boulders.

Bang Tao (Laguna) Beach

Five exclusive and luxurious resorts have been developed along the shore of Bang Tao Beach (Laguna). The beaches are clean and excellent for swimming, sailing and windsurfing from November to May, but can be subject to dangerous riptides and undertows at other times of year.
