Thai Muang
Thai Muang - just north of Phuket - is home to a 15 kilometers long spectacular beach with clear water and an adjacent golf course which is about to reopen. The beach is also home to one of the few remaining breeding spots for sea turtles along the Indian ocean.
Thai Muang Town
Thai Muang Town is a small Thai community of about 9000 people - a short drive north of Phuket. It is situated next to the Andaman Coast and just south of Thai Muang National Park.
Thai Muang Beach
The almost 15 kilometer long stretch of Thai Muang Beach is one of the hidden treasures along the Andaman Coast of Thailand.
It is a great beach to swim on from late November to mid-April, but be aware of the under currents all year round.
From November to February, female sea turtles come up to lay eggs on the beach - the only location along the Andaman Coast where it is still possible to observe sea turtles in their natural habitat. The beach is home to two sea turtles - the Olive Ridley and the Leather back.
The Thai Muang East Asia Turtle Sanctuary is also located on the beach.
Hat Thai Muang National Park
The 52th national park of Thailand consists of Thai Muang Beach and Lam Pee chain of mountains with altitudes from 100 to 622 meters - Kanim mountain.
The park area has primary rainforest in the steep mountains, mangrove forest can be found in the mud area along the Hin Lad canal along the eastern part of the park area.
It has been identified a total of 188 different types of birds, such as Black-thighed Falconet and Oriental Honey-Buzzard. Additionally there are more than 60 different kind of mammal animals (Malayan sun bear and tapir) and 16 types of amphibians.
