Khao Lak National Park
Raising up to 1077 meters, the Khao Lak - Lam Ru National park covers prestine rainforest, jungle, water falls, river, wildlife, flora, fauna and corals. The national park offers visitors to the greater Khao Lak area a unique chance to experience a tropical wonderland up front.

Thailand has 48 national parks - from the Khao Yai National Park north of Thailand to marine national parks on The Andaman Coast . Khao Lak - Lam Ru was designated as marine national park by the Thai government in 1991 and covers an area of 125 km2.

Typography
The general geograhy consists of mountains, such as Lak mountain, Lam Ru mountain, Sang Tong mountain, Mai Keaw mountain and Prai Bang Toa mountain. The highest peak is about 1,077 meters about the sea level.

The main rivers and streams of Phang Nga province (Ta Kua Pa river and Phang Nga river) originates fropm these mountains.
The Lak - Lam Ru mountain national park office is located in the shore area nearby sea covering the rock beach ecological system, sand beach and coral ecological system.

Flora and fauna
The forest consists of primary rainforest and beach forest.
Animals
There are a large number of animals to be found in the forests in southern Thailand. Some of the animals and birds that have been seen in the Khao Lak area:

- colug
- binturong
- malaysian weasel
- sumatran serow
- malayan tapir
- bengal monitor
- iridescent earth snake
- malayan pit viper
- bushy-crest hornbill
Accommodation
The Thai Royal Forest Department offers basic accommodations in the Khao Lak - Lam Ru National park. Bungalows for four persons with two bedrooms and fan costs around 1,200 baht/night.
