Nai Yang Beach is located not far from the airport in the Sirinath National Park on the northwest part of Phuket Island. Rimming a long curving bay, the beach is a good place for camping, swimming, and taking elephant rides into the surf.
About a km offshore a large coral reef provides good snorkeling and scuba diving. Dangerous undertows are a threat to swimmers and snorkelers year round, not just during the monsoon season.
At the northern end of the beach accommodations are limited to camping (the Park authorities and a privately operated campground rent tents) and a few bungalows. Construction of some commercial resorts has been allowed at the southern end, ranging from simple cottages to upmarket hotels.
